Drawing is a universal language, understood by all, regardless of whether it is a quick sketch or a detailed masterpiece. In my drawings lines and shapes come together to convey a feeling or to tell stories, many of which are rooted in real life events. I find drawing calming, almost meditative. Most of my drawings are semi-abstract and leave space for the viewer’s own imagination. From a practical point of view drawing is an easy way to continue working when I am travelling. I usually travel lightly. Packing just a few pens, pastels or pencils keeps matters simple and gives me freedom.
